Glossary

Key terms used throughout SlideSource Library, defined in one place. Terms are listed alphabetically.

  • Approval / approval stamp — A mark on a slide version showing it has been reviewed and Approved (or Rejected). The stamp reads like “Approved by … on …” so you can see at a glance that a slide has cleared review. Approval is the library’s legacy governance model.
  • C-Code — A short reference or compliance code that can be carried on content and used to search for and identify it.
  • Check-out / Check-in — The locking mechanism for documents. Checking out a document locks it to you while you make changes; checking in releases the lock and saves a new version. See Documents.
  • Collection — A top-level container for one kind of content — a Slides, Presentations, or Documents collection — each with its own folder tree. Access is granted per collection.
  • Compile / Download — Combining the slides you’ve gathered (in the tray or a presentation) into a single downloadable PowerPoint file.
  • Configured stamp — A status or approval label configured by a library admin to appear on content in the library.
  • Consultant view — A read-only, single-collection view of presentations that can be shared with an outside consultant through a link. See External access.
  • Custom field — An admin-defined property (text, list, date, and so on) attached to slides, presentations, or documents to capture your taxonomy — product, indication, audience, evidence type. Used for searching and filtering.
  • Document — A supporting file (publication, study report, source material) stored in a Documents collection with check-out / check-in versioning.
  • Folder — A container that organizes items within a collection.
  • Group — A named set of users. Permissions are assigned to groups, and a user’s access comes from the groups they belong to.
  • Library — Your organization’s entire workspace in SlideSource. All collections, content, users, and settings live inside one library.
  • Lightning Search — A fast slide-filtering search with toggles for Title, Text, Notes, Fields, and Tags, plus VID shortcuts (type bu3 to find BU-3).
  • Permission (Allow / Default / Deny) — The 3 types of content permissions: Allow grants it, Default inherits the library baseline, and Deny blocks it. Deny always wins.
  • Personal Collections — Your own private slide, presentation, and document sets, separate from the shared collections.
  • Presentation — A deck built by referencing slides rather than copying them, with section headers and optional per-slide version pinning.
  • Requirement — A condition that content must satisfy under the library’s governance rules — for example, that a slide be approved — before it’s considered in good standing.
  • Review queue — The list an approver works from to Approve or Reject slide versions awaiting review.
  • Share link — A link that gives someone access to a presentation — such as the consultant view — without a full account.
  • Slide — An individual, versioned slide: the reusable building block that presentations are assembled from.
  • Tag — A keyword label you attach to content for grouping and for Search by Tag.
  • The tray — The shelf along the bottom of the screen where you collect items (slides, versions, documents, folders) to download or act on in bulk.
  • vCheck — The check that flags downloaded decks containing outdated slides, so you know when material in the field has gone stale. See vCheck.
  • Version — A point-in-time state of a slide or document. Every edit creates a new version, and the full history is kept so you can compare or roll back.
  • VID (Visual ID) — A short, easy-to-reference identifier assigned to a slide, such as BU-3, in libraries configured to use slide identifiers.
